Day 42 - Acrylic Nails and The Breakfast Club
Hey there! This week I crossed another thing off my list. I'm really excited about how this is progressing and the fact I'm actually sticking to it, lol. I'm a week post chemo now and feeling amazing. Everything is looking up and I expect to feel so much better in even another weeks time! Having energy is a blessing. Waking up every day with things to do and getting them all done, still with energy to spare, is incredible. I feel so lucky to have my health.
On Tuesday (day 36?) I got a set of acrylic nails!! My first ever, and a dream I've always had. Something about them is so appealing to me. I bit my nails from the age of 7-18 and nothing I did would stop me, until randomly in June last year I decided I wasn't gonna do it anymore and through sheer willpower stopped. My nails grew so long and lovely, then I started chemo and they were destroyed. I started nibbling again here and there and my hands suffered for it. So now, I'm hoping my nails will grow under the acrylics and no longer be tiny and gross.
I found a nail tech through recommendations on instagram and I'm so happy with the one I found! The wonderful Lucy Maria specialises in makeup, but is also a trained nail tech, and she's so much fun. We had some amazing conversations and a good laugh, and she was so gentle and lovely to my hands! The nails look incredible, are the perfet colour, and so far have lasted pretty well (though I almost ripped one off the other day and it still hurts)
Lucy exceeded expecations, her car had broken down that morning and she had no way of getting to me. But instead of cancelling she borrowed another car, which was so sweet and commited. Plus she's an incredible listener, she put up with hours of my rambling!
That evening I watched the first film from my a-z film list, The Breakfast Club. I honestly had no idea what this film was even about or what to expect. It surprised me, and I really enjoyed it. I was living for the fashion choices lol.
